They actually fired all of those people? Awesome.
As a former employee (previous to this round of layoffs; I departed a couple of years ago, after just shy of 12 years with V.I., SOE, and SOE LLC, seeing the company through several parent companies, like SCEA, SPE, and SCE), and having watched this happen no less than 3 times previously, anyone that didn't see this coming is blind.I won't go into the internals, as I still respect a lot of people at the company, but this round of layoffs are comprised of people that dodged the bullet many, many times over, due to understanding and manipulating how the company politics worked, and if they had any common sense at all, knew this was coming for a long time, but definitely knew when the purchase was made internal knowledge. There was a lot of bloat that continued to carry over each time a rift, or layoff, happened, and in some cases, those that actually cared about their employees left by their own choice so that rather than scraping the lower paid people off the list, the lower paid folks could keep their jobs.Fact is, a lot of what you have seen resulted from poor management decisions by people who should have been managed out of their positions a long time ago.I'll be honest. I am not confident that Daybreak Games is long for this world, but for the sake of the people I still respect that work there (and to all my brothers and sisters who were let go, I wish you the best), I hope beyond all hope, that all the blood, sweat, and tears that were put into the titles we shipped over the years amounts to something that will stick around for a long time to come.

Higby just quit.Planetside2 = fucked.
It was a very difficult decision to make, but it feels like the right thing to do and the right time to do it. After around fifteen years of helping make games for the same company, I finally took something from work... some cardboard boxes full of my stuff.
is there a thread i can watch aside from this one that keeps me up-to-date on the people leaving the EQ team
