2014 Superbowl
« on: May 28, 2010, 12:50:24 PM »
Was just announced that this will be in New Jersey, the state of... um, well can't think of anything positive to say about state.  It is usually On west coast or way down south (like Florida).  Being from the amazing state of Delaware, the largest stadium in state of NJ is only like 1.5 hour drive from my house; so I'm buying tickets and making plans to go.  Someone refresh this thread in a couple years and lets meet up in NJ to party it up.

This will hopefully be the first step in letting other cold weather cities have superbowls.

Could have sworn Indianapolis in 2012 is considered a cold weather city.  Damn New Yorkers and their over-inflated sense of self worth.....

Quote
The home team determines if roof is to be opened or closed 90 minutes before kickoff. The roof remains open unless precipitation or lightning is within the vicinity of the stadium, the temperature is below 40°F, or wind gusts are greater than 40 mph, in which case the roof is automatically closed. Once the roof is closed, it may not be reopened.[7]

Ohs nos, it's getting close to freezing, time to close the roof so our team can play in a nice heated building with astroturf.  Cold weather my ass.

SOUNDS LIKE SORE LOSERS.

also cold weather/outdoor superbowls do nothing but restrict certain teams. whereas inddor superbowls showcase athletes, outdoor superbowls showcase the weather.  pathetic when you think about it for more then 5 min after you watch some NFL Greatest whogivesafuck DVD.  i'm a chiefs fan, i have nothing vested in superbowls besides that i want to see a good game, and indoors is where equal talent can get an equal playing field, whereas outdoor is garbage (see patriots vs. raiders).

i think the push for outdoor superbowls is mostly based on nastalgia. the league however needs to look forward not backward, and having 2k frozen fans attending a game they are miserable at, while 95% of the people on TV say 'oh man fuck that must suck playing in that XYZ condition" real football fans will watch the same game at an indor statium and go WOW DID YOU SEE THAT CATCH!

outdoor games put the focus in the wrong place.  idk why people would rather watch teh weather report then grown men who have worked at their profession countless years leading up to one moment to have it obliterated by a heavy rain/snow/wind/something else that is nostalgia based and retarded.

2 weeks before the Super Bowl has had many a league championship game in brutal weather, cold, snow, wind...

Funny how there is no mention of weather when the conference championship games are played 2 weeks prior (and many many times in omg cold nasty weather). Oh no one can play golf that weekend, then fuck off….

Oh the “people coming from California don’t have jackets?” But they have 2000+ for a ticket and are that fucking stupid not to know its cold in the north east? Which the past few years had been relatively mild

Douchebags can also book many hotels in central NJ (Edison, New Brunswick, and a lovely town called Irvington) to name a few with close access to the Turnpike and/or mass transit but I guess all the twatter celebs and writers need to be at the Waldorf in mid town. Does not take long to drive up the shithole pike to get there… of course barring a blizzard.

However from: http://www.almanac.com/weather/history/zipcode/07073

Mean (average) Temp:
2000:(Jan 30) 24.4
2001: (Jan 28) 32.8
2002: (Feb 3) 31.8
2003: (Jan 26) 26.1 (lil bit windy cold day).
2004: (Feb 1) 25.3 (bit windy again)
2005: (Feb 6) 42.4 (break out the shorts)
2006: (Feb 5) 46.9 (windy, a lil rain)
2007: (Feb 7) 22.7 (windy)
2008: (Feb 3) 36.7
2009: (Feb 1) 33.8
2010: (Feb 7) 23.9 (windy gusts close to 30mph).

Those were the mean temps… some of those days even the lower temp ones had a high close or over 50. Game time less than the high, and dropping, but I don’t see any reason to cry like whiny bitches because of a 22.7 degree game. Also the above had either negligible or no precipitation except the 2006 day.

If 2014 has a blizzard, oh well. Bottom line, its fucking football, fuck the celebs, fuck the high rollers, in Herm Edwards style you play to win the game. Half time show could have a perk with hard nips though!

There are two sides to this.   Cold weather teams were at a disadvantage playing in 30 degree weather then suddenly showing up to a place it is 80+ degrees. I dunno about you . but that kind of weather change is  pretty drastic a change to play in.  Guys getting dehydrated and puking and shit from suddenly not being in the cold.  Teams built for domes seem to be at an advantage cause alot of the superbowls are played inside on turf.

It's friggin football. This is the sport that is suppose to brave the elements.  The only reason that shit was in these dome or warm weather sites... was for the rich people who wanted to go see them.. Fuck that noise go sit in the cold.  Football was not meant to be played in 80 degree weather.
